All-Party Parliamentary Group on Counter Extremism

About the APPG

All-Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) allow Members of Parliament and the House of Lords to work on a cross-party basis to explore in greater depth issues of common interest.

The APPG on Counter Extremism has been established to tackle rising extremism below the terrorism threshold, including online hate, disinformation, and community intimidation. It aims to raise awareness, promote evidence-based solutions, and protect the UK’s democratic values and social cohesion.

The APPG’s first report, Time To Act, offers an introduction to the accelerating extremism threat facing the UK, and the action needed to tackle it.

The British people are worried about growing extremism, violence and division in our country – and the impact this will have on our children, grandchildren and the British way of life.

The APPG on Counter Extremism seeks to support and recommend areas where counter extremism policy needs to be strengthened to adapt to the challenges we face today.”

Chair, APPG on Counter Extremism
